Elisabeth Amalie Eugenie měla vzrušující život. Jako bavorská venkovská dívka se velmi mladá v 16 letech provdala za císaře Františka Josefa a přestěhovala se na vídeňský dvůr. V 21 letech byla již matkou 3 dětí, čtvrté dítě následovalo o 10 let později. Aby vykompenzovala spíše konzervativní vídeňské dvorní ceremoniály, Sisi hodně cestovala a sílu nacházela ve sportu a literatuře. Radost ze života ji inspirovala Maďary, a tak tam trávila hodně času a velmi se zasadila o sjednocení Rakouska-Uherska. Kult těla Sisi byl legendární a pro mnohé byl velkým vzorem. Její konec byl tragický, zavraždil ji anarchista v Ženevě, jen byla ve špatnou dobu na špatném místě. Sisiin život byl mnohokrát zfilmován, celosvětový úspěch měla trilogie s Romy Schneider a Karlem Heinzem Böhmem.
